I remember seeing the movie Stargate. I liked it. It was entertaining. But what really got me thinking was the idea behind it. That our 'gods' were really aliens. Not such a new idea, but an idea brought to the front of my mind by a movie. Plus, I really thought the way they did it made it almost believable.

Then, I heard they were making a series based on it. It happened to be debuting on Showtime (which we happened to have at that time). AND, it happened to star Richard Dean Anderson. Now, while not a HUGE McGuyver fan, I did like that show, and RDA was cute! And he liked hockey, so he must be a good guy! So, I decided to watch it.

Needless to say, I loved it! The stories were good, sometimes thought-provoking, the characters were excellent, as was the interplay between them. Michael Shanks was gorgeous, Chris Judge had (and still does!) a great body and an even better voice (at least when they let him talk!), and Amanda Tapping was beatiful, and I really liked her character.

When it stopped running on Showtime, I did not realize that it was on Sci-Fi, so I caught the episodes that ran on Fox (in syndication), and thought it had gone away.

Then, I finally entered the world of DVD by buying a player. I found out that it was still running first-run on Sci-Fi, and I bought all the seasons that were available (I think it was 5, then), so I could catch up. The DVD's were even better, because they had commentaries (which usually make me laugh!), and behind-the-scenes stuff, and no commercials.

So, here we are, and they have just been renewed for a record-breaking 10th season! WooHoo! I still watch the first-runs on Sci-Fi, and still buy the season DVD as soon as is available. I can't wait for the rest of season 9 in January!

Fans of the show (and hundreds of other shows if you go to fanfiction.net!) write stories about your favorite characters. Some are not so good, but some are REALLY good.
